cannot boot into kali after virtualbox installation

The problem is that I am not able to boot into kali after installing it I installed in on virtualbox. After installation when it attempts to boot, there is a message saying 'loading, please wait' and then the screen freezes. I tried uninstalling kali and reinstalling but the problem persists. Any help regarding this issue would be appreciated. Kali doesnt even boot from the live cd. The screen shots of the above two scenarios would be attached.

Kali version : Kali linux lite i386
installed as Debian 32bit
no similar problem could be found

Did you try the pre-built images at Offensive Security? Haven't used the Kali 2.0 ones yet, but they've worked well for me in the past.

No I haven't . I also tried parrot OS but the problem persists.

I tried starting it in VMware nd it works perfectly
I think the problem was in virtual box itself

Glad you got it going. I recently tried the x86 image at Offensive Security with the latest version of VirtualBox (5.0.20), and couldn't get it to boot either; same issues as you.

I'm sticking with the older Kali image for now.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one experiencing this problem! I've dug online for a solution but to no avail. Some claim that changing the RAM higher or lower fixed the problem for them. It has not worked for myself, but perhaps it might work for you.
