MacBookPro11,4 and rEFInd impossible to boot kali

    Hello,

I have downloaded the latest kali .iso and used rufus (Also try Win32 Disk Imager) to create a bootable USB.

When I stick the USB rEFInd detect something (Boot linux (Legacy) from KALI LIVE). When I select this

    it says:

    Starting legacy loader
    Using load option 'USB'
Error: Not found while loading legacy loader

    I have a Macbook pro 13' 2015 retina
    Model Identifier: MacBookPro11,4
    Boot ROM Version: MBP114.0172.B09
    SMC Version (system): 2.29f24

Note also that without rEFind (just by pressing ALT when the mac start) the boot loader doesn't even show the USB stick..

Is there something extra to do to be able to startup KALI from the usb with my machine?

    Thanks!

    1) Make sure you created the Kali USB with this method: http://docs.kali.org/downloading/kal...ve-usb-install (the mac section)
    with the command:
    sudo dd if=kali-linux-1.0.9a-amd64.iso of=/dev/diskX bs=1m

    2) Look for the file “syslinux.cfg”, open it with a text editor and change the line
    default vesamenu.c32
    to
    default menu.c32
Save, reboot, and try one more time.

    Hi Guys,

    Did you get it solved?
I'm facing issue that new Macs (MacBookPro11,5 - mid 2015) with firmware MBP114.0172.B09 does not support legacy mode.
    More on this:

Would be great to hear that there is a way to boot new Mac in legacy mode... anyhow
