Live USB w/ Persistence Low Space Errors

I am using a 16GB stick with encrypted persistence. However, I cannot perform an upgrade because I seem to only have 500 MB available out of 12 GB.

Anyone know what can be safely removed to free up space? I have not installed any 3rd party apps and only have a few text files that are less than 1 MB total.

The live USB is meant for you to test the distro and install it to the hard drive if you like it. It is not meant to be used as a production OS. You could try a Full Installation of Linux on USB drive. that may solve your problem.
