I have recently started learning linux and am following some online tutorials for ethical hacking and pen testing. i installed linux and was reading through some tutorials for general linux, when i landed upon printing.
long story short, i can't run cups for the life of me. i have seen hundreds of tutorials and tried everything they said including:
sudo service cups restart
Failed to restart cups.service: Unit cups.service failed to load: No such file or directory.
apt-get install cups cups-client "foomatic-db"
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package cups is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
However the following packages replace it:
cups-client
E: Package 'cups' has no installation candidate
E: Unable to locate package foomatic-db
i've tried everything and am attaching my sources.list. i'm getting the same errors even when i try to install synaptic package manager/software-center.
i manually downloaded the file from debian and unzipped. now i don't know how to get it to install. i've used debian before and installed programs, but am stuck here. i've read the install instructions and none of the commands in it are working.
