Unhappy Wireless adapter not showing up in terminal

    Hi Everyone,

I am running kali linux via Oracle virtual box

    Kali version: 64bit light
    Virtual box version: 5.1

I am having trouble because my terminal cannot detect my Wifi adapter TPLINK TL-WN722N

    iwconfig
    Code:
    eth0 no wireless extensions.
    lo no wireless extensions.
    ifconfig
    Code:
    eth0: flags=4163<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
            inet 10.0.2.15 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 10.0.2.255
            inet6 fe80::a00:27ff:fe1e:45dd  prefixlen 64  scopeid 0x20<link>
            ether 08:00:27:1e:45:dd txqueuelen 1000 (Ethernet)
            RX packets 2436 bytes 1562314 (1.4 MiB)
            RX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 frame 0
            TX packets 2077 bytes 247709 (241.9 KiB)
            TX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 carrier 0 collisions 0

    lo: flags=73<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING> mtu 65536
            inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 255.0.0.0
            inet6 ::1  prefixlen 128  scopeid 0x10<host>
            loop txqueuelen 0 (Local Loopback)
            RX packets 0 bytes 0 (0.0 B)
            RX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 frame 0
            TX packets 0 bytes 0 (0.0 B)
            TX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 carrier 0 collisions 0
    airmon-ng check
    Code:
ls: cannot access '/sys/class/ieee80211/': No such file or directory

Found 2 processes that could cause trouble.
If airodump-ng, aireplay-ng or airtun-ng stops working after
a short period of time, you may want to run 'airmon-ng check kill'

      PID Name
      364 NetworkManager
      463 dhclient
I've been searching in Google and still no luck, any help would be much greatly appreciated!

P.S I am very new to kali linux.

While I don't do wireless work in a Kali VM, I'd check to make sure the VM can see the wireless devices. I believe there's a menu setting in VirtualBox, and VMWare that you have to use to activate the device inside the virtual machine.

Also have this issue - ever since 5.0.26. VB 5.0.24 seems to be the last version that works OK with USB devices.
Mine actually crashes if you connect the USB device to the VM and the try to disconnect it or close VB.

I can see the device listed in the USB section of the menu and after I connect the device to the vm when I run lsusb, but no interface in ifconfig.
I reverted back to 5.0.24 which resolved the problem. (It also works OK in the earlier 5.0.20).
