    Package conflict

    Hello all,
I run Kali 2.0 Rolling release distribution on an older laptop. I am trying to get some packages for my OS that don't come with the official repositories. I am downloading the source files from linux distro websites, and other websites that offer generic source code for linux distributions.

I am wondering what happens if I download a smaller package that a main one has a dependency for, and for whatever reason that smaller dependency doesn't work for the main one, so I download the source for that very same smaller package, and build it with ./configure, make, make install.
Will there be a conflict if a package is downloaded twice, once from the official repo, and once from source?

Yes, you can have some issues with others packages who need this dependency.
