hello hello! I'm here today because I am having issues dual installing kali alongside Windows 7.
I searched around on the internet, but have not been able to figure it out, and am finally asking the fine folks of this forum for help

I have a Desktop computer with Windows 7.
I was able to download Kali and turn it into a bootable USB with universal USB installer.
boot into BIOS and enable legacy support for USB devices so my keyboard keys would work,
restart, press the F# button (for me f8 ) to get into boot, and do a live boot.

live boot looks fantastic! lets install this! so from apps, choose Gparted, set a unallocated space of 8GB, and restart into the USB again, this time choosing graphical install.

when it got to CD, pull out and push usb drive back in.. and one bump, wasn't able to select a mirror?
install finished, reboot and....

Looks like its loading? ti says Kali GNU/Linux Rolling kali tty1 (note on reboot it goes straight to terminal, this was a bug i guess)
a few hours later I figured out i need to press CTRL+ALT+F1
im looking at a terminal.

keying in root and the password set at install (I didn't set a normal user account?)
shows root@kali.

goodie!
now what?

I decided to check if I'm online, and typed in ping google.com
that works, so hit CTRL+C
interwebs says i need something called GDM3

so apt-get install gdm3 returns

reading package lists ... Done (this seemed WAY to fast)
Building dependancry tree
Readin state information... Done
gdm3 is already the newest version (3.18.0-2)
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove, and 0 not upgraded.

okay so it's installed. lets launch it.
i typed in gdm3 and hit enter...
and nothing.

so, I'm a bit stuck??
what should I do here?

--I should mention this is the third time reinstalling kali without success
