Hey.
I recently purchased a Chromebook flip and installed the veyron image of Kali.
I also purchased an ALFA AWUS051NH V2.
I have run apt-get update and apt-get dist-upgrade.
I also installed the kali-full metapackage.
I plug in the ALFA adapter and can't even bring it down to change the mac.
lsusb shows "Ralink Technology, Corp. RT3572"
lsmod shows that the modules in use are the rt2800usb/lib and rt2x00usb/lib
If I do:
ifconfig wlan1 down
it disappears from the list but the light on the unit just keeps on flashing. Running macchanger (macchanger -r wlan1) I get:
Could not change MAC: interface up or insufficient permissions: Invalid argument
I'm running as root. The only option therefore is that the interface isn't being taken down.
I can run the exact same commands for the internal broadcom chipset on wlan0, and it works flawlessly.
I can only assume that because the driver doesn't match the card correctly, it has limited functionability.
Has anyone got this card to work correctly with Kali?
