Kali 2016.1 to 2016.2

I have a doubt:
I have installed the Kali 2016.1 and 2016.2 was released, only to "update" and "upgrade" packages realize all of 2016.1 updates to 2016.2?

I think to fully upgrade, you'll need to do apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade

No problem I'd do a backup, just in case. For what it's worth, I ran an apt-get dist-upgrade earlier this week, and it killed both BED & DOONA. I think it has to do with a new install of perl, but am still researching.
