    Blacklisting nouveau

    Hello,

I'm running Kali linux 64 bit 2016.2 on a persistent usb. Can I blacklist nouveau without installing nvidia drivers. Or is this going to cause problems if I run the usb on a laptop with nvidia graphics card?

That's a different kind of question. The answer is, if you then try to use that thumb drive on any pc that has Nvidia graphics you will not get your GUI. So... why do it?! lol

I blacklisted nouveau in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf, and no problems with the GUI. I had problems shutting down kali. If I did a poweroff I would get a blackscreen and fans running on full speed(also just using kali) i had to hold power button to shut it off. now i blacklisted nouveau the shutdown is working normal and no fans running on full speed. I hope you understand me, english is not my first language.
