Install hangs at 90%

I am trying to install nethunter on Nexus 5.
Installation hangs at 90% trying to extract kalifs-full.tar.xz to /data/local.
I have tried to extract this file manually using file explorer but that generates many errors and does not extract.
I am running kali nethunter 3 marshmellow on android 6 right now but many features do not work.I suspect because the file was not extracted to /data/local.
Wifi does not work.
kali commands do not work.
How do I extract kalifs-full.tar.xz to /data/local manually since the kali installer never passes 90% ?
Edit : the installer never passed 90% but after rebooting, kali nethunter loads, the files seem to be there at /data/local.
Apt-get update is giving many errors, this never happened in kali linux desktop and wifi continues not to work.
Any suggestions.
