Kali dual boot killed Win 10

    Hi,

    Laptop y700 Lenovo

    Win 10

Installed Kali on D drive which is a recovery for Lenovo defaults.
My knowledge of linux is limited.

after installation I cannot see the win 10 boot option in grub.

    Here's what I have:

    root@AdiKali:~# sudo os-prober
    /dev/nvme0n1p7:Windows Recovery Environment (loader):Windows:chain
    root@AdiKali:~# fdisk -l
    Disk /dev/nvme0n1: 238.5 GiB, 256060514304 bytes, 500118192 sectors
    Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    Disklabel type: gpt
    Disk identifier: 1D7F0C38-3EF4-4B95-9D3B-074BD1C545D2

Device Start End Sectors Size Type
    /dev/nvme0n1p1 2048 534527 532480 260M EFI System

    /dev/nvme0n1p4 403042304 403044351 2048 1M BIOS boot
    /dev/nvme0n1p5 455471104 457519103 2048000 1000M Windows recovery environment
    /dev/nvme0n1p6 457519104 498069503 40550400 19.3G Windows recovery environment
    /dev/nvme0n1p7 498069504 500117503 2048000 1000M Lenovo boot partition
    /dev/nvme0n1p8 403044352 422268927 19224576 9.2G Linux filesystem
    /dev/nvme0n1p9 422268928 455471103 33202176 15.9G Linux swap

Partition table entries are not in disk order.

Could you kindly guide me through being able to boot win 10 as well?

windows 10 will not boot from a legacy bootloader such as grub. as far as I know, in order for you to switch between the two you will have to use the boot menu at startup. I'm not sure if your model has the "novo button" like my lenovo does but it would be the same way you would get to the BIOS. unfortunately I have not found a bootloader compatible with both, originally I had my windows 10 boot by default but kali has become my daily driver so I configured my BIOS to boot from legacy first and I would now have to use the "novo button" (or f2 but sometimes the firmware loads too fast for that to work) any time I want to use windows, which honestly doesn't happen all too often once your kali is properly tweaked and configured to your liking.

    Edit:
When you get to your machines built in boot menu you will need to select the EFI System, that is your windows 10 bootloader.

    Hi,
Yeah, just saw your response. Thanks! I've figured it out the same day, playing with the option in BIOS.
    Really frustrating though....
In any case, I've screwed up my Kali by installing support for Nvidia. I won't boot now anyhow, and I'll need to reinstall it.
I've even removed the users from the bumblebee group - no help. No sound card drivers either :-) this is turning into a serious project just to get this working.
Anyway, if you have the same laptop or close, could you tell me where I can find all the needed drivers for it? Primarily the sound.
I can live with the generic driver for graphics...but it would be nice to be able to play some music while working...
    Thanks

Easy BCD doesn't work with UEFI. Why people even choose Legacy BIOS to install kali? Those internet guides and youtube demonstrations really mislead users.
