Need help with an error of ath10k driver on qca9377 wireless adapter

    Hi,
I have installed Kali linux rolling on my hdd (dual boot with windows 8.1). I am running the 64-bit version with linux version 4.6.0.
Everytime I boot up, I get an error saying:

firmware: failed to load ath10k/cal-pci-0000:03:00.0.bin (-2)

    and

firmware: failed to load ath10k/QCA9377/hw1.0/board-2.bin (-2)

Inspite of these errors I am able to connect to my wifi network and surf the internet.
But, when using reaver or wifite I always get an error saying that it failed to associate with target.

    What is going wrong?

I have tried copying the firmwares from here:
    https://github.com/kvalo/ath10k-firmware
    and here:
    https://github.com/ajaybhatia/Qualco...377-Wifi-Linux
but none of them made any changes.

Current kernel is 4.8.x. Try updating your Kali install first.

    The issue still persists.

Searched on Google and I found this post: http://askubuntu.com/questions/60770...k-installation, you can try to install the latest backport. I don't know if this will work, but you can give a try.

I am pretty new to linux, but isn't backporting something I am supposed to do when I want to run firmware for newer version of linux on an older version?
I am already running the latest version...so, why should I need backport?

Also, unlike for most people posting similar error threads, I do have wireless connectivity but still get the firmware error message on boot. Could this be some sort of false positive?
But, even if it is a false positive, why don't reaver or wifite work on my own networks?
