Hi ,

I installed the Kali linux "kali-linux-2016.2-amd64" on my laptop on a completely different 25GB partition with 5GB swap space , once the installation was successfully completed using a bootable USB , the system reboots and i get into the login screen. Here i login as root and type my password and then click the login button, that's where the problem starts the whole screen freezes. the pointer doesn't moves , nor does the system respond, but it gets me to open the terminal by using the Ctrl-alt-F4 keys, Once here I tried few options that i found out on other threads, basically after connecting to the internet i tried installing the Nvidia ("using: apt-get install nvidia-*) packages but, it ends up saying the file nvidia doesn't exist, same is the reply when try to install the linux headers it gives back "cant find linux headers" .

If try to login via the terminal Initially during login , it logins and then when try to exit from the terminal it simply gets stuck ( the screen keeps showing this "call trace.." word though),
and when i try to get to the display it returns back an error like "can't show display".

When i initially tried using Kali Linux live through a bootable USB it worked perfectly .

So basically i fresh installed Kali Linux and it get stuck at the login screen, and being new to complete linux world of os i don't know how to handle this problem.

My laptop specs:

Dell Inspiron 15 7559 .
Cpu : Core i7 6700HQ Skylake
Gpu: Nvidia GTX960M 4GB DDR5
Ram: 8 Gb 1600 mhz

These are the threads i refered to but they couldn't help me.
