Need recommendation for a Linux backup/restore product using Kali Linux.

    Hi.

I am transiting from a OS Windows 10 environment to Kali Linux.
Need a recommendation for an free open-source Backup/Recovery package to do the following.

    - Very reliable to perform on-demand Full backup/restores of 50gb Flash Drive to a Seagate portable.
    - Fairly easy tool to install and navigate.
-Ability to restore/recovery on boot. Something similar to a win10 recovery media.
    - Option to restore 1 to many files would be a Plus.

I did lookup about 10+ packages. Did not see any clients reviews.
I’m sure most are reliable. If you currently using or have knowledge of a good bkup/restore please list your recommendation.

BTW: Beside having a recovery media I also used Macrium with win10.

    Thanks.
    jef.

It's not Linux-specific, but I use Clonezilla for full backups. For me, taking an image of my Kali boxes works very well.

Thanks Grid. Just Imaged my disk using Clonezilla.
Hopefully their product can improve to selectively restore img files/folders.

No problem I take an image before big upgrades, and just do selective backups on my custom stuff as needed.

I read that clonezilla does not copy exactly everything. The website stated that clonezilla will not copy sectors that are empty, so my reservation is that if a backup is done and a restoration is made from the backup, the 'restored' kali machine might not boot or might have some bugs or introduce software errors? Have you had successful restorations from your clonezilla backups? Thanks!

Not on a Kali box...haven't made time to test a restore. I had a successful restore of a Windows 7 machine last month: worked fine.
