    DVD boot stuck

    Hello,

My PC doesn't want to boot from the DVD. This is what I did:

    1. Downloaded the 64bit ISO
    2. Burned it on a DVD, using win10 built in burner (also tried ImgBurn). It did burn the files properly (not just copy the .iso file onto the DVD).
    3. Went into my UEFI (aka BIOS) and set the boot order to first try DVD (also tried with Secure Boot disabled).

When I boot the PC (DVD inside), I can hear the DVD spins up, then stops spinning, then nothing, im just keep looking at the logo of my computer maker. No loading msg, no "Please press any key...", nothing just the big white logo. Pressing keys does nothing. I left it for 2 hours, nothing.

    My PC:
    Intel i7 64bit
    SSD
Maker: BTO (its a dutch company building custom PCs)

    Anyone experiences this before?
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Hmm, maybe the DVD drive went bad? Can you verify with a known good disc?

Can i be bad if the read/write/verify fnctions work? I mean is it possible that it does all that but can not work for booting?

Installing OS from DVD used to be old days. Create a bootable USB of kali using rufus.

Solution: Turns out Kali doesn't fully support UEFI (they say they do but not on my system anyway). The solution is this:

    And this:

They are 2-3 year old threads. Their given solution is correct for kali 2016.2 image which doesn't come with efi files in order to be recognized by UEFI during boot. But just by not having efi files doesn't make it less compatible with UEFI. It is also fully compatible, it only misses those files to boot. Later kali weekly images already have these files to boot in UEFI.
