Trying to extend battery life on Kali

I recently installed Kali on an old Lenovo T420. It lasts roughly 4 hours on battery for the past couple of pentesting jobs I have done mobile/OTG. However, I would like to charge it only once a day if I can help it.

I have tried installing other Linux power management programs (Powertop, powerman, etc.) but I keep coming up with no found packages or no installation candidates when doing "sudo apt-get install <program>"

I have already tried "sudo apt-get upgrade" and "sudo apt-get update", and they function just fine, but further attempts to install software packages begets the same results.

Am I missing something, a repository maybe, or are the programs I am trying to install not work with this distro, and if so, are there any other programs that can extend my battery life beyond the simple "tweaks tool"?

    I appreciate the help
