Problems changing refresh rate V2017.1

I recently installed Kali Linux on my rig and my rig has one 144hz monitor and one 60hz monitor. When I finished installing Kali and my NVIDIA drivers I went to my display settings and tried to change the refresh rate to 144hz but when I did it my screens just went black and said that there was no input even though my computer was still on and all of the cables were properly connected. Any help is largely appreaciated.

I fixed the problem occurring in Kali Linux version 2017.1 by disabling my second monitor to off and then changing my primary monitor settings. I then turned my second monitor back on and I restarted and everything is working.
