New to both Linux and Kali.

I read the VMWare sticky here at the forum and the online documentation. The infos are not clear. Plus, I can find no answers to questions below on the web.

On this page ( it states:

"As of Sept 2015, VMware recommends using the distribution-specific open-vm-tools (OVT) instead of the VMware Tools package for guest machines."

Does this mean that Kali Linux for VM already includes VMWare Tools that are specifically tailored to the Kali Linux for VM distro ?

Does this also mean that when VMWare prompts that VMWare Tools are not up-to-date that I should ignore that notification - in other words there is no need to update the VMWare Tools because they are already included in Kali Linux for VM ?

Is there anything in Kali Linux for VM that should not be updated\upgraded ?

Is the update\upgrade procedure for Kali Linux for VM any different than the general distro ?
