Trouble logging into Kali Linux 64 bit VM

I downloaded Kali Linux 64 bit VM for VMware, version 2017.1 from the downloads page at
"https://www.offensive-security.com/kali-linux-vmware-virtualbox-image-download".

On the download page it says "These images have a default password of “toor” ..." so I tried to
log in as 'root' and the password 'toor' but that didn't work. I also tried 'admin' and 'admin', and
'admin' and 'password'.

Not sure why "toor" doesn't work when that's what it said on the download page. Anyone have
suggestions?

You might have mistyped it. I use those image regularly and I can guarantee I login with root/toor.
