    Cannot change resolution

I have recently installed the Kali 64 bit(first download on and have been messing around with some of the stuff on it. Something that is bothering me though is it is constantly in 1024 x 768 resolution and I have a 1920 x 1080 monitor. I have went into the kali linux settings and when I click on the resoultion there is nothing else there. I went into the terminal and typed "xrander" but it says that the minimum and maximum resolution is 1024 x 768. Is there somewhere in the files I can change this?

    Thanks in advance.

You probably need drivers for your video card (generic drivers are used for now I guess). Install them then resolutions should be displayed correctly.
