    Kali won't boot after apt-get update && apt-get upgrade && apt-get dist-upgrade

    Hi Guys,

    I have a problem since I updated my Kali installation...
    It won't boot anymore and I get stuck at boot... I can access to console with ctrl alt F3 and I try
    Code:
    dpkg --configure -a
    but nothing.
    I uploaded an image if someone can help me... http://imgur.com/cWzQJvK

    Kali version is 2017.1 64 bit, the md5 checksum was good and my laptop is a Dell Latitude 6530. I have a triple boot with Win10 and Fedora 25 also. I don't use kali grub, I use the fedora Grub.
    I precise that everything worked fine before
    Code:
    apt-get update && apt-get upgrade && apt-get dist-upgrade
    . After restart I get stuck at boot as you can see on this screen shot. http://imgur.com/cWzQJvK

    Thank you so much
    Best regards,

    If you can drop to the console using Alt-F3, run the command suggested at boot about the virtualbox failing to start.

    Not useful in this case but dist-upgrade does 'upgrade' and more. Even though the following link is for Ubuntu, this explanation is good: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1946...t-dist-upgrade

    One last thing, not sure if it was intended but both links to pictures are the same.

    I'd try getting a console boot prompt, and running apt-get install kali-linux-full. While a little brutal (in that everything will be overwritten), that should get you going.

    All installed programs will be overwritten, so if you've made any mods to them, those changes will be lost. As far as raw data, no...but I'd backup any important files before running apt-get install kali-linux-full.
