Nexus 7 2012 Wifi, TL-WN821N not registering as wlan1

I have confirmed that the wireless adapter does work, tested on my Kali pc. I'm not sure if the device requires power but I have tried with an OTG Y cable that I have successfully powered and detected an external hard drive with, using my nexus(mounting with StickMount). It shows using lsusb, but I don't get wlan1 on ifconfig or iwconfig, and wifite gives me "SI0CGIFFLAGS (No such device)." I've reinstalled multiple times, first using nexus root toolkit to unlock and root, then used the final step of the windows nethunter installer. It was as functional as now, the only notable difference being that the kernel was a google kernel. Second, after flashing stock, I used the nethunter installer all the way through with the same result. I then found a post about the kernel being wrong if it says google in it, so I got the one from photonic tried replacing the kernel and broke my installation. My most recent install, after going back to stock, unlocked and rooted with nexus toolkit, flashed Kernel-groupertilapia-kitkat-12042014, moved nethunter zip to device and installed using twrp.

When I enter lsusb in the kali terminal, it reads:

I'm having the same issue, same build, same dongle (but I did try others, with the same result). I tried everything that you did, hopefully someone will reply with a few ideas.

I was able to get the wifi working again. Took me a couple tries. First i messed around with the kernel because the other day after installing it straight from the kali nethunter program, it left the old kernel for google. once i loaded up the groupertilpia kernel i got to work on checking to see if the wifi dongle was being read by my tablet. Still nothing. I was noticing i was having problem with Kali not loading correctly, i couldn't getthe shell to open in terminal or sometimes wifite wouldnt open at all.

Finally decided to reinstall the original nakasi zip file from TWRP and once it finished loading, checked the status of the wireless with "ifconfig" but still nothing. Tested it out with wifite and gave me the same error. After closing it out and opening again it was working once again. I'm currently scanning networks right now.

Not sure if its intermittent where sometimes it will work and other times not but thats what i did to get it to work. After I'm done scanning some networks i will attempt to update kali and see if anything changes.

UPDATE 1: Ran apt-get install pciutils
and it appears to work now wifite does.

Having the same issue with Net hunter 2.0 on Nexus 7 2013 Wifi tablet SI0CGIFFLAGS (No such device) with wifite tells me something about Please install lspci from your distro's package manager and just keeps spamming that till I CRTL+C any fix for this?

Are you using Kit-Kat or Lollipop, as I know in Lollipop I had issues bringing my WN722N up or getting it recognized.
Going to do a fresh install on my N7 2013 and if 2.0 still has issues would be great to know to stick to Kit-Kat/

Open terminal and run apt-get install pciutils.

UPDATE I ordered a TP-LINK WN722N and it worked right off the bat, didn't have much time to mess with it though. I tried again a while later and it wouldn't even detect it with lsusb. Turns out I had some usb connection issues and could no longer maintain a stable connection even to my computer. I managed to ssh a recovery image, restored to stock, tried to install nethunter 2 and ended up with the nethunter version 1 still, but the usb connection is now stable and the TP-LINK WN722N is functioning at the moment.

for me i noticed that mine would not go up less i had the internal wifi enabled. after the internal wifi was enabled then i was able to bring up the external wifi adapter and get responses from it. though since i enabled it after i had external connected my adapter was set to wlan0.

o i am on oneplus one cm12 build.

Same problem here. (NO wlan1) Tried with 3 different wifi cards (also y cable). Nothing seems to work. i did my homework and surf the WEB for solutions. Try ALL of them - fixed nothing. Just throw hours/days into nothing damnit!
I guess, i have to wait for some more stable versions.
