    Which Alfa Network Adapter to buy for RASPBERRY Pi3 ? Monitor Mode, Packet Injection

    Dear community,

    Last week I bought the AWUS036ACH for my RaspberryPi3 to find out that it is not compatible concerning "monitor mode".
    Diver installation was the worst experience I have ever had and in my opinion this adapter is just not implemented well for Raspi.
    Unfortunately it looked like it was the best adapter you could get because it supports 2.4 + 5 GHz and the range was INCREDIBLE.
    I found like 25 other accesspoints in my building (high-rise).
    But this is useless when the driver does not work properly and you can't activate monitor mode and use it for kali-stuff.

    So I will return this adapter and buy a new one.

    Which should I buy? I have no problems with Alfa Network but I will never buy chipset RTL8812AU for my Raspberry again.
    Next adapter MUST have:

    - FULL support for RaspberryPi3 <-- MOST IMPORTANT
    - monitor mode
    - good range
    - packet injection (?)
    - size does not matter

    Can you help me with that?
    I know a shop where they sell:

    AWUS036NEH
    AWUS036NHA
    AWUS036NHV
    AWUS036NHR
    AWUS052NH
    AWUS036AC
    AWUS036ACH (does not work here)
    AWUS1900

    Do you know others?

    Thank you!!
    Cheers

    I'm using the AWUS051NH v.2
    Tested on RPi0, RPi2 & RPi3 without any issues.
    Supports monitor mode & injection and has excellent range

    AWUS052NH should work - it has the same chipset. I haven't tested it though.

    I've just tested the AWUS036NHA and that one purrs like a kitten, too. I've got 5 more adapters ordered for testing but so far I can confirm that the ones on this list work like a charm:

    Awesome work re4son. Thank you!
    Yesterday I ordered the AWUS052NH.

    I also contacted ALFA Tech Support and they replied me very fast:
    Hi ,

    Thanks for you interest in our product

    About the AWUS036ACH installing on Raspberry Pi

    Install git

    (sudo) apt install git

    Install kernel headers
    (sudo) apt-get install raspberrypi-kernel-headers

    DRV_NAME=rtl8812AU
    DRV_VERSION=4.3.14

    mkdir /usr/src/${DRV_NAME}-${DRV_VERSION}
    git archive driver-${DRV_VERSION} | tar -x -C /usr/src/${DRV_NAME}-${DRV_VERSION}
    dkms add -m ${DRV_NAME} -v ${DRV_VERSION} dkms build -m ${DRV_NAME} -v ${DRV_VERSION} dkms install -m ${DRV_NAME} -v ${DRV_VERSION}

    AWUS051NH V2(11n 1X1) and AWUS052NH(11n 2X2) used the same IC chipset,

    Sincerely,

    Plug-n-Play, monitor-mode, packet injection, incredible range.
    I recommend this adapter for every raspberry-user.

    Thanks a lot!
