Question Is Kali Linux 2017.2 compatible with the Alfa AWUS1900 adapter ?

Hi, I'm new to this forum, so sorry if I'm posting this at the wrong place ^^

So, I started playing around with WiFi cracking last week (on my own network of cours ^^) and my old WiFi adapter (a chinese Alfa clone) died

I'm was looking on Amazon for a replacement and I found this:
    https://www.amazon.fr/Network-AWUS19...ustomerReviews

    I have a couple questions:
    1. Is this adapter compatible with Kali Linux 2017.2 ?
    2. Can its power be changed from 20dBm to 30dBm (like my old chinese clone) ?
    3. Will I need any special drivers and if yes, where can I find them ?

Hope someone can help, havea nice day

The answer is easy.. it's a YES it's supported. currently using this one myself.

    1. It IS compatible with Kali
    2. The power CAN be changed to 30dBm
    3. Yes, because the driver "realtek-rtl88xxau-dkms" package from apt-get got some issues (which will be fixed soon) related to txpower,
you better build it yourself from https://github.com/aircrack-ng/rtl8812au/tree/v4.3.21

    Hello,
    I just got this: https://www.amazon.com/Alfa-AC1900-W...3de9220fe33471

Before doing any installation or try anything I wanted to ask if there are specific things that need to be done to make it work and if so what exactly? I have an old antenna that has trouble cracking AtherosC wifi password, will I be able to come across the problem with the new one that I purchased?

    Best Regards

@martimarti, take the easy route first Plug it into a native Kali install (non virtual machine), and verify it will go into monitor mode & do packet injection.

    Hi,
Followed this post to install the alfa: https://forums.kali.org/showthread.p...ll=1#post75539

    Didn't work:
    -ifconfig doesn't recognize it
    -iwconfig doesn't recognize it
-started win10, plugged in same usb, alfa works, light is on, bunch of networks, didn't have to install the cd

    Also tried this: https://forums.kali.org/showthread.p...ll=1#post76143

    Still got same results.
    What should I try?

    Thanks

p.s. 1/4/2018 I gave up on this and I bought AWUS036NH. Works great, no drivers install nothing, plug and play. Now researching how to make reaver work properly. Best regards
