Hey all,
I'm currently trying to install Kali directly onto my laptop and i'm currently running into problems trying to get the device to connect to the internet during installation.
When I activate the 'detect network hardware', it runs briefly, tells me that no Ethernet card was detected, and then asks me to input the name of the driver needed by the Ethernet card. If I say no Ethernet card, it tells me that no network interfaces were detected. I don't want to complete the installation without internet connection because I want to follow the installation instructions exactly to avoid any painful debugging.
Now, when I boot it in live mode, it connects to the internet just fine. Running ifconfig returns results for lo and wlan0, but doesn't tell me what my network card is. All internet based functions work perfectly. So it can't be a problem with the kali os, nor a hardware problem with the actual laptop.
I found a user with the same problem, but the thread was posted in 2013 and many fixes are outdated.
Any help would be appreciated.
