    Question Keyboard not working anymore with xfce4

    Right now I can only use the keyboard in recovery mode. Basically, after the latest upgrade xfsettingsd (xfce4-settings) was causing the GUI to freeze every 5 seconds.
    More details about the issue: https://forums.kali.org/showthread.p...-three-seconds

    I didn't realize at the time that all I needed to do was to
    Code:
    killall xfsettingsd

    so I tried to purge xserver-xorg and xfce4 and then reinstalled them both. When I restarted I noticed that I couldn't login because the keyboard was not working anymore.
    So I went back into recovery mode and tried to make a few tests; I am going to post all the outputs.

    Output of Xorg --configure:

    Code:
    (++) Using config file: "/root/xorg.conf.new"
    (==) Using system config directory "/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d"
    modprobe: FATAL: Module fbcon not found in directory /lib/modules/$kernel
    intel: waited 2020 ms for i915.ko driver to load
    Number of created screens does not match number of detected devices.
    Configuration failed.
    (EE) Server terminated with error (2). Closing log file.

    Output of startx:
