headless raspberry pi zero w : network setup

I've been using kali-linux-2018.4-rpi0w-nexmon on a ssh accessed headless raspberry pi zero w. As I travel around a lot and don't always have acccess to an HDMI monitor, it is somewhat difficult to start networking every time I boot. I have not found a way to mount sdcard/sdb2 on my laptop so as to modify /etc/network/interfaces so I put the interfaces file in boot partition on sda1 and linked it to /etc/network/interfaces. That way I can change the file from my laptop before booting the pi.

There must be an easier way...

    Any ideas???

    Thanks CCEE

Modify /etc/network/interfaces. Mounting isn't that hard, just use a Linux system (or a VM).

My bad... I turns out that my desktop linux box (puppy linux - a debian offshoot) was deficient ... I learned something
I was able to mount sdb2 using and a card reader plugged into a raspberry pi

I'm new to this forum, How do I mark this as solved?
    Thanks
    C

There is no place to mark it as solved.

Just FYI, there are adapters that let you capture the HDMI output such as this: https://www.amazon.com/USB2-0-Acquis...dp/B07J2SBN1K/ (video capture) that you can use to see the HDMI output of your RPi
