probleme with card graphic in kali linux vmware

    Hello everyone ...
to start here is what I have:

-windows10 pro 64 bit (all drivers are installed and up to date)
    -vmware workstation pro 15
    -kali linux 2019.3
    Nvidia pilots up to date

    So here's the problem:

-After I install kali linux 2019.3 on vmware workstation 15 and of course after installing vmware tools on kali linux I wanted to install my graphics card on my kali, so that it detects it, so I look for 've found that it is necessary to install the drivers nvidia and that's all but after installing the drivers nvidia on my kali I cross my kali linux still can not detect my graphics card or can not communicate with my graphics card so here is the problem and I hope to have some help

and here is some answer to my orders:

    ###### root @ DARKVENOM07: ~ # apt install -y ocl-icd-libopencl1 nvidia-driver nvidia-cuda-toolkit

    Reading package lists ... Done
    Building the dependency tree
    Reading status information ... Done
ocl-icd-libopencl1 is already the most recent version (2.2.12-2).
nvidia-cuda-toolkit is already the most recent version (10.1.105-3).
nvidia-driver is already the most recent version (430.40-2).
The following packages have been automatically installed and are no longer needed:
    leafpad libnfs12 libproj13 python-dns python-dnslib
Please use apt autoremove to delete them.
0 updated, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 23 not updated.

    ###### root @ DARKVENOM07: ~ # nvidia-smi

NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it could not communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.

    ###### root @ DARKVENOM07: ~ # hashcat -b
hashcat (v5.1.0) starting in benchmark mode ...

Benchmarking uses hand-optimized kernel code by default.
You can use it in your cracking session by setting the -O option.
Note: Using optimized kernel code limits the maximum supported password length.
To disable the optimized kernel code in benchmark mode, use the -w option.

    * Device # 1: Not a native Intel OpenCL runtime. Expect massive speed loss.
You can use --force to override, but do not report related errors.
    No devices found / left.

VirtualBox/VMware/Parallels can't do that. It doesn't support PCI passthrough.

If you hardware supports it, you could do it with ESXi but it's not a desktop virtualization. Alternatively, you can also do it using KVM and PCI passthrough

so, if I understand correctly, you mean that I have to install my virtual machine, on ESXI and not on workstation 15x for it to work

Yes, but check their compatibility to see if it is supported.

Just FYI, ESXi doesn't have any GUI interface whatsoever.

It may work using KVM (if your hardware is compatible), that can run on a desktop OS AFAIK.

Virtualization solutions (VMware, VirtualBox,etc.) as a rule virtualize hardware. This means that they don't have direct access to it, so if you're intending to use your system for hashcat, etc., and your intending to use Kali in a VM, you will not get the benefits of whatever special video card you have. The "problem" is not exactly a problem. It's the result of translating what your virtualized OS is asking for into what your host OS needs, and then the host OS translating that into what your hardware needs.

Simply put, most virtualization solutions (VMware, VirtualBox..) will not work for you in this case. You would need to either find a solution (a few mentioned previously) that allows for pass-through, or you need to move to a bare-metal hypervisor.

This may not be a perfect answer, but hopefully it illustrates what has been explained previously.
