New install, can only start in recovery mode.

    GIVEN:
    Laptop: ASUS ROG GM501
    Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX1070
    RAM: 16 GB
    HDD: 1 TB
    OS: Kali 2019.3

    SYMPTOMS:
After entering username/password from initial prompt, the screen goes blank except for a small area of hashed color in upper left corner.

Then, I get a series of 'stop jobs' that refer to 'gdm' also one that points to
'nouveau : systemd-logind failed to idle channel 2'

    System shuts down after that.

I feel like I am very close here but I suspect perhaps I am missing drivers for GPU even though it works when I boot from USB drive with Kali live.

Anyone out there that might know the answer to this ? If perhaps booting into live or in recovery mode to add missing drivers ?

I have two separate USB drives, one with driver, one with Kali OS.
You think it would be worth trying to install driver in 'live' or in 'recovery' mode ?
