Please don't ask why I modified passwd, I am VERY new and did not understand the implications. I got lazy and wanted to bypass entering my long password for superuser operations.
startkde seems to freeze-up at login. After changing my primary user account's UID and GID from 1000 to 0, I switched it back while logged in as that user. When I try to log-in, sddm freezes up and I must restart. I can access the account through tty, however, I receive a message "Unable to connect to X server" which doesn't happen for any other account accessed through tty. I can still access KDE as root and as my other user accounts.
