Hello,

Having a few problems with the final hurdle when booting Kali.

Made it through to inputting disk encryption password but boot crashes as soon as the password has been run.

This is what I see before I input the password:

[ 1.998691] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: DRM: Pointer to TMDS table invalid
[ 2.667826] psmouse serio1: synaptics: Unable to query device: -5
Volume group "place-holder-vg" not found
Cannot process volume group place-holder-vg

I believe I have solved the first issue ([ 1.998691] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: DRM: Pointer to TMDS table invalid) by replacing the 'quiet' statement with 'nomodset quiet splash'
but even when run like that I am then met with a GUI asking for my disk encryption password, same thing happens, I input it and then it executes a shutdown.

Asking for any help with this issue, info below:

-Single booting Kali x64 2019.3 (using DD not ISO, I get disk errors with using ISO that only were fixed by using DD)

-Legacy boot not UEFI (SSD not recognised on UEFI)

-Laptop: Del xps 15 i7 quad core 16gb ram 500gb ssd

Not quite sure what I'm doing wrong here, maybe i should try using an older kernal?

Thanks in advance for any input.
