Nexus 5X malfunctioning on PC (USB)

Hi, I'm trying to install Nethunter 2019.3. I have an LG Nexus 5X and a new USB cable. I'm trying to connect it to my PC. Using the new USB. When I plug it in I get an error that "the device malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it." It doesn't show up under "My PC." I tried "Allow USB Debugging", changing "USB for Charging" (I don't get the option for "File Transfer", just "Media Transfer" "Picture Transfer.") I tried them all. I'm trying to root my phone. I'm using Nexus Root Toolkit v2 and following a video on YouTube. So why doesn't my phone show up on my PC? Is it the USB Cable? Why doesn't it show "File Transfer" under "USB for Charging" options? I think I need my Nexus 5X to show up on my PC before running Toolkit or any other Toolkits. I also hhave this thread on XDA-Developers. I'm attaching screenshots. Please reply. Thanks

    Which Android version?
I'm running 8.1.0 and it is recognised as soon as I plug it into my PC.

Success! My phone connects to my PC when USB is changed to MTP. Then I followed a YouTube tutorial and unlocked and rooted my phone. With Nexus Root Toolkit. Then I installed the Nexus 5X Oreo Nethunter in TWRP. I now have Nethunter working on my phone. This is solved.

Hi, I have another question...Can I Lock my bootloader after installing NetHunter? Do I need it to stay unlocked? When starting the phone I get the Lock symbol at the Google screen. It gives an error message while starting up. So how do I Lock the bootloader? I know this is an easy question. Please reply. Thanks

    No you can't.

    This document explains why:

You can consider that warning a badge of honour
