xfce not working after 2019.3 -2019.4 upgrade

when i run kali-undercover i get and error:

xfce4-notifyd: no process found


also when i run top command i can see that gnome-shell is still running

Logout of Kali. When logging back in enter your username and press enter. Then enter your password and do not press enter yet. Instead click the settings wheel to the bottom right of the password field. Select xfce from the dropdown and then continue logging in. The desktop will look a bit different, but you will now be able to run kali-undercover.
