Hello!
first of all, happy new year to everyone!

So, i have Kali Linux installed in my laptop and i use the root user 100% of the time.
I connected the laptop to my external display yesterday and i had some problems that i didn't had in the previous times that i connected the laptop to the display (like my bluetooth headphones that i always use in the laptop not working for example)

But the problems weren't too big, so i used the laptop connected to the display for the whole night (i passed the new year eve at home with my parents)

when i went to sleep, i disconnected the cable.

So, i woke up a bit ago and turned on the laptop, logged with the root user and for my suprise, the GUI was totally messy.

my wallpaper and the icons disappeared, the panels disappeared too, i couldn't resize, minimize, maximize or close any windows (i tried with the mice, the trackpad and alt+tab), for resume, everything was messy.

But, that only happens in root user, i'm using another user that i created when i installed kali and everything is perfect.

How could i fix the problem and what would be the cause?

Thanks in advice.

PS: Sorry for my shitty English, i'm from Portugal.
