Question What is the default username for running Kali Linux on a virtual machine?

Probably a noob question, but I downloaded the Kali Linux VWware 64 bit file, used qBittorrent, and got it running on Oracle's virtualbox. I got the default password from the website I downloaded the file from (it's toor), but in the virtual machine it's prompting me for a username as well, and I don't know what it is or where to find it. Anyone know what this is all about? Thanks in advance

It is indicated on the VM comments: root/toor.

Having similar issue. I'm new to Linux, so this is my first install. Installed into VirtualBox.

Install didn't ask for a root password, just to set up a user account.

    For root login I tried

    user: kali
    pass: kali

    and

    user: root
    pass: toor

Neither worked. Is there something else to try?

I checked out the user list for the install and there is no user "kali". I even tried user: root, pass: kali. The user account created during install seems to work fine, but not sure yet whether that account has root access.

Ok. Figured it out (actually, DuckDuckGo pointed me in the right direction.). Kali no longer allows you to set up a root password during install and no longer uses toor as the default password. If you want root access, you have to give it to yourself from your regular user account (set up during install) by changing the root password.
