So I just installed kali on my laptop and it seemed to have installed properly but every time I try to boot into it it shows the kali logo for a little bit then my laptop just shuts off completely. I managed to boot into recovery mode which seemed to work until I ran the startx command which just spits out a bunch of text and then freezes some of which I thought said initializing power off but I'm not sure as it was going by fast. My laptop is an Asus FX503V if that makes any difference. I'm not sure if it's a BIOS issue or a driver issue or something else.
