kali 2020.1 black screeb after installaion

Please help, i installed Kali on SSD and choose xfce. After reboot i have no greeting screen, lightdm does not start, nomodeset=0 also cannot help.

I see only blackscreen with login tty1

Startx or startxfce4 does not work

How to activate normal desktop and greeting screen?

OK the solution is download the Kali Linux 64-Bit (Live) and install from that image.

    This is for everyone reading.

I was able to get out of the screen, If you installed just xcfe "desktop environment" try this" startxcfe4 if not read the following. If you are missing the ulwifi file that is the .ucode extension you will need a second usb. When it asks you for that file plug in the second USB and unplug the USB you are using to install Kali. As soon as it goes through and finds the media and begins installing plug back the Kali USB and unplug the .ucode USB. I selected xcfe and gnome then I individually selected all of the programs to be loaded with this Kali install after that when I went to the Grub hub menu I selected Kali and it brought me to the login screen.

Log in to console, then post the output of:

    systemctl status display-manager

    /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Hi, I have the same problem, these are my outputs from the log files:
    https://ibb.co/4S3cFNZ
    https://ibb.co/NZq4K2y
    https://ibb.co/Hg75pwH
    https://ibb.co/hWqt49L

Finally, the output of lspci | grep VGA:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Atom/Celeron/Pentium Processor x5-E8000/J3xxx/N3xxx Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 21)
The problem was after upgrade from 2019 to 2020 version

    Thanks for your comments

Looks like you have some missing packages. Can you post the output of this:

    dpkg -l | grep '\<\(accountsservice\|xserver-xorg-video-intel\|lightdm\)\>'

if you don't see them, install them.

So, anyone with a real solution yet? Eventually, a secure link to the 2019.4 version? Because it looks like this is a problem too...

Furiously ripping apart several wasted DVD's and installing Kali 2019.4 resolved my issues. One look at the forums and...Kali 2020.1 is a total mess. The sources.list file is botched, the packages are botched, there's missing drivers, the fancy "No more Root" thing made troubleshooting a total nightmare...I just spent about 14 hours on and off before I said F it and reverted to an older release that simply booted straight to desktop. No issues now!
