Question Kali Linux 2020.1 and no graphic installation mode

    Hello,
I guess there is a problem with the no-graphic installation mode of the latest Kali release.

The installation doesn't install the graphic desktop environmental also if selected as package.

    Can please take e look?

I guess the change of the WM created more than 1 issue...

I have the exact same problem!

    Does your Kali Linux do:

    ?
I'm also running on a VM.

I'm having that same problem running under VirtualBox. There seems to be no combination of selections that work.

I've found a way. You just need to check as minimal options as possible. That's what I did.

The other option is to make the disk size larger in VirtualBox. It appears the installer doesn't display what the error is so you have to guess. I set the disk to 64GB and everything installed just fine.

YES this happened to me twice, I kept trying it was a combination of plugging or unplugging the USB at the right time.

    This is for everyone reading.

I was able to get out of the screen, If you installed just xcfe "desktop environment" try this" startxcfe4 if not read the following. If you are missing the ulwifi file that is the .ucode extension you will need a second usb. When it asks you for that file plug in the second USB and unplug the USB you are using to install Kali. As soon as it goes through and finds the media and begins installing plug back the Kali USB and unplug the .ucode USB. I selected xcfe and gnome then I individually selected all of the programs to be loaded with this Kali install after that when I went to the Grub hub menu I selected Kali and it brought me to the login screen.

PS. I used the Kali Installer image from their website and selected under desktop environment "gnome" and "xcfe" then selected all the programs to be installed.
