Unable to provide root access to kali

Hi,

Env : Kali 2020.1 on VirtualBox 6.1

I ran "sudo dpkg-reconfigure kali-grant-root" , chose "Enable password-less privilege escalation"
sudo dpkg-reconfigure kali-grant-root
INFO: Adding user kali to kali-trusted group.
Adding user `kali' to group `kali-trusted' ...
Adding user kali to group kali-trusted

Results:

kali@kali:~$ ifconfig
bash: ifconfig: command not found
kali@kali:~$

I still need sudo ... I want to do away with sudo .. please assist

ifconfig is long gone. Use 'ip' instead.
