The vnc desktop is empty.

I installed a new kali nethunter chroot and vnc is now working, but the desktop is empty and dark blue. I can see the mouse but i can't do anything. How do i start the terminal in the vnc?

install Nethunter Kex and use Basic VNC option.
also try:

apt-get install kali-linux-nethunter
