Have been trying to install Kali on this old laptop - Intel Pentium 1.6 GHz, 1.2 GB RAM, 35 GB HD (https://www.cnet.com/products/dell-inspiron-700m/specs/ has detail specifications).

I downloaded .386 ISO image of Kali from it's official site (http://old.kali.org/kali-images/), made a bootable copy using rufus and tried them on my laptop. Did not face any issues while running them from USB drive. When I try to install them have not been able to move beyond installer menu.

First issue was PAE error, this I resolved by adding forcepae -- forcepae in the install option. After this also, I just get a blank screen with no cursor. Only option is to power off.

After researching on internet tried these options too, but none of them worked - i915.modeset=0 OR nomodeset, grub_gfxmode=1280x800 OR VGA OR WXGA or 1280x800x8 alongwith forcepae.

Currently it's running lubuntu 14.04, I wanted to replace that with Kali. Any pointers to move ahead will be appreciated.
