Issue compiling compat-wireless on amd64 Gnome Kali

    Hi all.

I have run into an issue trying to get my old Hawking HWP54G working with Kali.

I have previously had no trouble getting it working with Backtrack 5 R3. Yes I realise that this is not the backtrack forum, and I do realise that they are different kernels.

I am fairly new to compiling things under linux, and I have been getting an error message that I did not get when I got it compiled under Backtrack.

Plug in onboard ethernet NIC works just fine, hits router for DHCP.

lscpi shows the card as a RT2500PCI

    iwconfig shows no wireless interfaces.

Previously in backtrack, because I couldn't get the normal driver for it working I had used compat.
I ran the select driver script and specified it to use the rt2x00 driver that is part of compat wireless, ran make, make install, and then modprobed and it loaded the module just fine.

Here is what I see when I try this in Kali GNOME 64 bit that I downloaded from the official site. It is installed on disk, not live. Also, I did make sure that I ran apt-get update and apt-get upgrade first.
It looks like it is trying to access a directory that is not there, to put the make together. But I am kind of lost, I would appreciate some direction!

This is the output I get when doing the cfg driver select and also trying to make&&make install:

    root@Kali-Box:~/Desktop/compat-wireless-3.6.8-1# ./scripts/driver-select rt2x00
