I attempted to create a /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net-rules file but what I see is the MAC address changes every time. Yes I get that is the macchanger at work. And it is a good thing for IDS systems but a bad thing if you want to always have WLAN1 be free because it is the adapter than can be put into monitor mode. I can't be the only person to run into this. But yet I don't see any good work arounds. Is there a way to keep the names persistent besides keying off the MAC address that always changes? I also get that I can boot up then plug in the USB wlan adapter. I don't want to have to do that every time or worse yet have to talk someone else through it. There must be a way I am missing to make sure the correct adapter gets the correct wireless set up.
