Kali on a Latitude 7490 INTEL UDH 620, UEFI install, BIOS flash update and everything. I removed NVIDIA drivers. I uninstalled ligthtdm and replaced it with xdm. I have plenty of swap with and SSD. This is a BTRFS install on root without subvolumes with XFS as the home filesystem but I don't know if that would make a difference. I did a forced UEFI install when it said it "detected BIOS from a previous installation" A message did say something along those lines but not verbatim. I also installed TLP.
I have HandleLidSwitch=ignore in /etc/systemd/logind.conf.
All the power settings are so to keep the display management is unchecked.
all the settings are on NEVER.
When I close the lid I lose the screen, no back-light even, I plug hdmi to an external monitor but no signal.
If I reboot and start with an accessible session and plug HDMI after boot, close the lid, it stays on the external monitor. It doesn't make a difference whether the charger is plugged in or not.
If I close the lid and wait about 10 minutes same blank screen with not backlight.
Dell Diagnostics passed on thorough test mode. I don't know what to do. Anyone have ideas/sugesstions? etc.
