Invisible Mouse Cursor on fresh install

The cybersecurity program I'm in does a lot of work using a Kali VM so I decided to set up my Windows 10 desktop of dual boot with Kali. The install is successful and upon logging in to KALI my mouse cursor is invisible. I can still use my mouse, the cursor is just invisible, and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to get it to show. I've deleted and reinstalled Kali three times, I've even reached out to my instructors and so far nobody has been able to figure it out so I'm asking here. I've been able to navigate into the mouse settings and tried changing things there but still no luck, and the only things I can find on google have to do with using a VM, not an actual install of Kali. I'm even using the same .iso we used for our VMs.

I've also had this issue on an older laptop, I'm using a live boot of version 2022.2 with persistence. If I do a failsafe boot the cursor is visible. A persistence boot on a new laptop has no problems.
