NetworkManager.service missing from certain builds of Kali

Yesterday I was jumping between different installs of Kali and I noticed that the NetworkManager service was missing from some of them, freshly installed from ISO. I can't seem to find any information about this being deprecated, how are we supposed to disable the network manager when we want to manually assign IP addresses and routes to interfaces?

EDIT: I managed to figure out that NetworkManager only autocompletes when using systemctl as well as being case sensitive and that was leading to people not being able to find it, very strange.
