    Renamed Home Directory

I am running Kali Linux via a usb sick with persistence. Now my home directory name has changed (inexplicably) from kali@kali to kali@Windows8. All the content in the directory is unchanged. Attempts to rename the directory leads to no such directory (Windows8) One hour previous the directory displayed

    ┌──(kali㉿kali)-[~]
    └─$

The next hour after reboot we have the following.

    ┌──(kali㉿Windows8)-[~]
    └─$

Any ideas how to change this back to thge original?

    Thanks

Ok, quick update. Once I discovered that Windows8 in the above was a host name changing it back was simple. Using nano edit 2 files replacing Windows8 with the old host name (kali in this instance.)

    The terminal commands were:
    sudo nano /etc/hostname
    sudo nano /etc/hosts
Changing the hostname file did the trick. The hosts file had the correct hostname, so no editing was needed. The information was found in a simple google search
