GlobalSat BU-353-S4 issues for passthrough driver error

    Hi Everyone,

I am running a wardriving project at the moment and need some help. I am having issues with GPS on Kismet. I am using GlobalSat BU-353-S4. I installed gpsd, gpsd-clients, and when I click the removeable device drop down on the top left in vmware to add the gps unit to the vm, it says driver error at the bottom and wipes the usb from the drop down completely. Only way to get it back is to reboot the windows 10 machine entirely. Can I use this gps unit on a VM or just bare metal? Am I missing a driver or keep component/repo? I even started the gpsd service prior to adding it to my VMware install... it still keeps booting the device. Wuld I be better off using bare metal as opposed to vm ware for this project?

Even though you want to use it in a VM within VMWare you might have to install the correct drivers in Windows so it doesn't keep throwing it out..
