Kali system freeze/hang. Can't reach any components other than POWER OFF button.

    hey there folks...
i've been experiencing system freeze since a month. sometimes it doesnt happen for 2-3 days, but it had never changed: system keeps freezing RANDOMLY and COMPLETELY. Mouse and Keyboard are frozen, display is frozen, nothing is reachable.

all i could do is physically restart the device...

don't know why it's happening, but i might have found the source of the problem. i guess it appeared in the LOG:

    as you can see...
some stuff happened there. i'am suspicious about OOPS warning (second line)

thanks in advance! have a nice day/night...

i am hoping to write this (after long long long researches and sleepless nights) and finally tend to say i think it's got fixed after i changed some BIOS settings:

the changes i've made in BIOS was:
    - PSU Idle control: Typical current idle.
    - Disabled CS stat
    - and setting "CPU Ratio" to "36.00" from "Auto" option.

worst part of this issue is you actually cannot find anything in your log files about the issue. so you need to take shots for possible options.

after i did some BIOS changes written in here: https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspo...bugs.html#ID27 guessing these are about AMD CPU compatibility, it wasn't fully fixed,
actually it started to happen more frequently. after crash i was refreshing the page and 3-2 seconds later it was re-triggering. but at least i could catch the error in the -dmesg. so i dig more and more.

google chrome was crashing from "Error 11" - General protection fault(GPF).
not an expert, but after reading some sources about GPF - it says it can go to a state called Double Fault - disabling the OS and leaves it hanged. Triple Fault was the total shutdown of the computer. mine was just system freeze, so i'm assuming it was Double Fault.

changed CPU ratio from a forum post i saw and left computer with 4 tabs of videos opened for 2-3 hours. normally it would crash in 4-5 minutes. but it didn't. yet.

not gonna lie kinda scary to wait this process but hopefully, GOD HOPEFULLY! this is fixed. and so far no problems. i'll update this every 2-3 days.

Well done for coming back and posting a possible fix, it looks like the GPU driver has been crashing..

I used to get lots of this running any Linux flavour with a Dual GPU set up (everytime my system cycled from low power state to high power state, i.e inbuilt Intel GPU to discrete Nvidia card), the only fix I found at the time was to keep system in 'mid state' or highest, never dropping to lowest, this was on a laptop, so battery life suffered somewhat but it was at least stable then.
